Spring is a magical time of year for family photos, especially in the beautiful Essex countryside.
Maybe because everything is waking up from winter and it's exciting to know the warmer days are on the way. Or it might be because the spring blooms like tree blossoms and wild woodland bluebells are elusive and leave as quick as they arrive. The landscape is always changing.
As the countryside comes alive with colour, longer days and soft golden light, it creates the perfect setting for relaxed, natural family photos.

Bluebells in Saffron Walden: Un-spoilt patches of Bluebells are very hard to find and the best spots are normally privately owned or looked after by national trust - you can find places to visit bluebell woods. The bluebells under these circumstances are kept free of brambles and footfall which is why they look so perfect. As a photographer who offers bluebell photoshoots i spend a lot of time finding the perfect patches that are not trampled or busy with visitors. For this reason i suggest that if you have children who like to run wild and are unlikely to ‘stick to the rules’ of staying on the path and bare patches then there are much better options for your family when it comes to wild flowers……Daisy Meadows or the Autumn Woodland Minis would be perfect where there is more space to run carefree and kick up up leaves for fun.
For a few short weeks (usually late April to early May), local woodlands turn into a sea of violet-blue flowers. These create a magical, storybook backdrop that you simply can’t get at any other time of year.
