Autumn Family Photoshoot in Essex and Cambridgeshire

There’s no season quite like autumn for a family photoshoot with Jodie Wilson Photography. Golden leaves, crisp fresh air, and soft sunlight, autumn creates a dreamy natural backdrop that’s perfect for capturing heartfelt family connections and memories.

I specialise in relaxed, candid family photography that’s as much about the fun you have on the day as the beautiful images you’ll take home. An autumnal family photoshoot is the perfect way to update your family photos, create unique Christmas gifts, and invest in keepsakes you’ll treasure forever.

Why Book a Family Photoshoot in Autumn?

🍂 Nature’s Perfect Backdrop – Autumn transforms our countryside and woodland into stunning natural studios. The rich reds, oranges, and golds of the leaves add warmth and texture, making every photograph feel timeless and full of character.

🍂 Seasonal Wardrobe Magic – Cosy knits, scarves, wellies, and boots not only look stylish but also help everyone feel comfortable and relaxed. This natural ease comes through in your photos.

🍂 In Time for Christmas Gifts – Booking in autumn means your family images will be ready for Christmas. From framed family prints for grandparents to luxury photo albums for yourself, your pictures become thoughtful, heartfelt presents that last far longer than any shop-bought gift.

Fun, Candid Family Photography

Worried your little ones won’t sit still? Don’t be. My family photoshoots in Essex and Cambridge are designed to be playful and stress-free. I capture the laughter, the leaf-throwing, the cuddles, and even the quiet moments in between.

The result? Natural, candid images that truly reflect your family’s personality – not stiff, posed smiles. Families often say the photoshoot itself was just as enjoyable as the final gallery, and that’s exactly what I want for you.

From Photos to Forever Keepsakes

Luxury Family Photo Albums – A timeless heirloom that tells your family’s story for generations to come.

It’s often over looked by many when booking a family photoshoot but the clothing you all wear really does make a difference to the overall look of a photo’s

Your clothing does not have to match.... what I mean by that is this is not a “every one in a white t-shirt and jeans’ or ‘every one wear a shade of blue’ type of guide.

It’s more of a guide to show you how to wear complimenting colours and outfits so that you look great together and in the location/season.

Spring outdoor family photo shoot

Find an outfit that you love.... whether it’s yours or one of the children’s its doesn’t matter. As long as you absolutely love it and need it in the photographs you can now build your family’s wardrobe around it.

You can find lots of example of what to wear on my Instagram account…. Lots of Inspiration

How to Compliment your family’s wardrobe:

Mix and Match colours and textures - If the item has more than one colour then pick one out and create another outfit from that colour.... For example, the romper has more than one colour, cream, brown and dark green. Match that with a block or colour like this dark green dress. The different textures of crinkled cotton and denim also make a great contrast and will add interest and depth to your gallery. Add another block of colour that compliments both of the children’s outfits. The cream dress goes well with both outfits individually. Then throw another pattern into the mix, a knit is another texture but the colours still work together.

All of these outfits are available to borrow from the Client Closet. Some ideas and inspiration of colours that look great together....

Just one little golden rule of clothing, try to steer clear of characters, writing and big logos... When you look at your photos in 3 years time you don’t want your eye to be drawn to the big Pepper Pig on your Child’s t shirt. The only focus should be their faces so keep the children as plain as possible.
